Yesterday, Fort Hood officials released the name of a Soldier found unresponsive August 4, 2016, in Copperas Cove, Texas.  The Soldier, whose home town of record was listed as Hayward, California, was identified as Sgt. Calvin Wenceslao Aguilar, 32.

Aguilar was a K9 handler with the 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade at Fort Hood.  He served several tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Aguilar’s awards and decorations include, but are not limited to, three Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medal, two Army Good Conduct Medals, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with arrowhead device, Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons, NATO medal, combat action badge, parachutist badge.

No details have been released on how Aguilar died. It is not known if Sgt. Aguilar was married. Circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation by the United States Army.
